Antoni Barber Orfila Candidacy

Renew and revitalise

Our mission

Recover the club’s energy

We want a Club Tennis Mahón that excites its members again through day-to-day management. Our candidacy was created to set priorities, listen better and turn that listening into visible improvements both on court and in the club’s social experience.

We believe in a closer, more transparent and more executive way of governing: less improvisation, more follow-up, and a club culture in which the academy, competition, members and staff all move in the same direction.

This project is not presented simply to manage what already exists, but to reactivate the club’s potential with a reformist, realistic vision centred on the member.

COMMUNICATION AND DIGITAL PLATFORMS

We propose a full renewal of the website so that it stops working only as a booking engine and becomes a more complete and useful tool for members and for people interested in the club.

  • Include all relevant club information: services, facilities and how the club works.

  • Clearly explain the advantages of being a member versus not being one through a comparison table.

  • Create a news and updates section with events, tournaments and activities. Also keep all this information updated on the club’s physical notice board.

  • Work on search engine visibility to improve the club’s reach and attract new members and players.

  • Create a space for academy member-students where they can see and join open spots in groups at their level.

  • Allow member-students to create open matches within their level.

  • Add a personal dashboard for member-students with information about their activity:

    • Free hours used during the month.
    • Free hours still available and pending use.
    • Credits available to join open places in classes at their level.
    • Open matches at their level.
  • Implement email notifications when:

    • A place opens up in a group at their level.
    • A free booking is used, indicating how many remain.
    • An open match is created at their level.
    • Upcoming competitions or events.
  • Create a transparency section where club decisions, actions and financial information are published clearly.

SOCIAL AND SPORTS MANAGEMENT

  • Bring back the CTM social tournament and/or create a social ranking.

  • Create an events area, organised into:

    • Events for junior schools: clinics, participation in carnival floats, end-of-year parties, birthday celebrations for members and more.
    • Events for adult schools: championships, trips, interclub events, meals and clinics.
    • Intergenerational and family events: bring back the 100 hours of tennis, family tournaments, bike rides or walks, stays at Camping Son Bou or youth camp houses.
  • Add technical value to tennis and padel schools, for both juniors and adults, with actions such as:

    • A yearly technical plan.
    • Quarterly reports.
  • Open days: organise specific days so new people can try classes, courts and facilities.

  • Bring a friend programme: allow students or members to regularly invite a friend to try tennis or padel classes.

  • Go to schools to promote playing tennis/padel at our club.

  • Introduce meal options at the club bar for summer schools.

  • Create a non-sports leisure space for junior club members.

  • Create a healthy snack option at the bar so younger children can spend more time at the club while consuming on site.

  • Make it possible to recover tennis and padel lessons lost because of bad weather through a platform that allows open training sessions. If a student lets the coach know they will not attend, the coach removes them from the session so another person can book the place.

  • Create a junior padel school.

  • Give tennis and padel schools, both junior and adult, the same level of importance.

  • Strengthen the link between the club and padel school students.

  • Create an open matches platform so that if a member has nobody to play with, they can create a match and another person of the same level can join.

  • Review membership fees and the benefits of being a member for academy students:

    • Explore new membership formulas such as family membership.
    • Benefits for junior academy members: welcome club technical shirt, discounts in shops, discounts for summer, Easter and Christmas camps, discounts on high-performance events, unlimited immediate court booking subject to availability, the chance to recover lessons through open training and the chance to join open matches.
    • Benefits for adult academy members: welcome club technical shirt, discounts in shops, the chance to recover lessons through open training, the chance to join open matches and a significant reduction in court rental prices according to time slot.

CROSS-CUTTING ACTIONS

  • Create a new visual identity with the aim of professionalising the club’s image, including:

    • A new website design.

    • Creating an RFID card for all members to access exclusive member-only areas.
  • Establish inclusive language in club signage and communications.

  • Ensure junior members build their social life within the club, since they will be the future generations. This will be achieved through different strategies spread across the various areas of work: events, dedicated spaces for them and special food services such as healthy snacks.

  • Involvement of coaches and staff: create an internal dynamic so that the team takes a more active role in the club’s life and improvement.

  • Internal incentives: motivate coaches and staff with goals, recognition and incentives linked to their involvement.

  • Balance between a social club and efficient management: combine social life, economic sustainability and orderly club management.
